Reclamation reopens Shasta Dam Visitor Center

REDDING, Calif. - The Bureau of Reclamation announced today that the Shasta Dam Visitor Center will reopen on Thursday, May 20. The visitor center is an excellent resource for visitors from around the world who are interested in learning about Shasta Dam - the keystone of the Central Valley Project.

Inside the visitor center are informational displays, a documentary film about the dam’s history, and knowledgeable guides to answer questions.

The Shasta Dam Visitor Center will be open Thursday through Monday, from 8 a.m. to 5 p.m. Tours inside the dam and powerplant are not available at this time, but visitors can participate in a self-guided walking tour across the top of the dam.

Visitors are asked to observe the Centers for Disease Control social distancing guidelines. Occupancy will be limited to 25% capacity of pre-COVID levels.
