The U.S. Census Bureau will release the final set of results from the 2020 Post-Enumeration Survey (PES) on Aug. 16. These results will provide insight into the quality of the 2020 Census counts for the Puerto Rico population and housing units. It also includes coverage estimates for housing units across the nation, regions, states and the District of Columbia, and by selected characteristics for the nation.
The release includes two parts:
- Puerto Rico population and housing unit coverage:
- Estimates of net coverage, including undercount and overcount rates for Puerto Rico, as well as components of census coverage. This includes coverage by demographic groups such as age, sex, tenure, and whether the person was in the San Juan-Bayamón, PR Combined Statistical Area or not.
- Estimates of coverage for housing units in Puerto Rico, including estimates of net coverage and the components of census coverage.
- Housing unit coverage:
- Estimates of coverage for housing units for the nation and states, including the District of Columbia. Coverage estimates include vacant and occupied housing units, single and multiunits, mobile homes, and occupied housing units that are rented or owned.
The coverage measurement results provide one way of analyzing the quality of the 2020 Census.
The Census Bureau previously released national and state PES results in March and May, respectively. These results are the final estimates in the series.
