Orlando, Florida - United States District Judge Carlos Mendoza today sentenced George Adrien Brooks (73, Winter Springs) to 18 years in federal prison for attempting to induce a child to engage in illicit sexual conduct. A federal jury found him guilty on March 4, 2016.
According to evidence presented at trial, between September 5 and Sept. 10, 2015, Brooks engaged in online communications with the purported father of a 10-year-old boy about engaging in sexual conduct with the child. The “father" was an undercover FBI agent. On Sept. 10, 2015, Brooks traveled to Seminole County to meet the child for sex and was arrested. During the trial, the government presented evidence that Brooks had sexually abused another child 44 years ago.
This case was investigated by the Federal Bureau of Investigation. It was prosecuted by Assistant United States Attorney Ilianys Rivera Miranda.
This case was brought as part of Project Safe Childhood, a nationwide initiative launched in May 2006 by the Department of Justice to combat the growing epidemic of child sexual exploitation and abuse.
