Isiah Heyward, 24, of Sicklerville, NJ., was charged today by indictment with assault on a federal officer, announced Acting United States Attorney Louis D. Lappen. The indictment alleges that on or about Dec. 10, 2016, Heyward forcibly assaulted, resisted, opposed, impeded, intimidated and interfered with a Correctional Officer of the Federal Bureau of Prisons while the officer was engaged in his official duties.
If convicted the defendant faces a maximum sentence of 8 years’ imprisonment.
The case was investigated by the Federal Bureau of Investigations and is being prosecuted by Assistant United States Attorney Jeffery W. Whitt.
An Indictment, Information or Criminal Complaint is an accusation. A defendant is presumed innocent unless and until proven guilty.
