FBI and Chula Vista PD Request Assistance to Identify Chula Vista Credit Union Robber
SAN DIEGO-The Federal Bureau of Investigation (FBI) and the Chula Vista Police Department (CVPD) are seeking the public’s assistance to identify the individual responsible for a credit union robbery in Chula Vista, California.
On May 2, 2019, at approximately 11:38 a.m., a lone male entered the California Coast Credit Union, located at 386 East H Street, Chula Vista, California. The robber entered the business and presented a demand note to a teller. The note stated, “This is a robbery. I have a gun." During the encounter with the teller, the male gestured to his waistband but did not display a gun. After receiving cash from the teller, the robber fled from the bank.
Surveillance cameras inside the credit union captured photographs of the individual wanted for this robbery. In the surveillance photographs, the robber can be seen wearing a gray hat covering his head and a black jacket with a high neck covering the lower portion of his face.
Witnesses have described the robber as follows:
* Sex: Male
* Race: Black, described as possibly Somali
* Age: Late 20s to early 30s
* Build/Weight: Medium
* Height: Approximately 5’10"
* Facial Hair: Face stubble
* Clothing: Black “Jordan" brand jacket, gray beanie cap
* Weapon: Threatened in the demand note.
