Timucuan Preserve is Jacksonville's national park! It provides thousands of acres of stopover habitat for birds as they migrate through the area. During fall and spring migration, birds from around the world make Timucuan Preserve their temporary home. To celebrate, Timucuan Preserve is partnering with the Duval Audubon Society to host monthly bird hikes at Fort Caroline National Memorial from September through March 2023. All hikes begin promptly at 10:00 am, are free and open to the public. Please arrive at least 15 minutes early to check in with park staff. Closed-toed shoes are required. Binoculars, water, sunscreen, and bug spray are highly recommended. Our partner, Duval Audubon Society is the local chapter of the National Audubon Society and service Clay, Duval, and Nassau Counties in Northeast Florida. They host monthly informational meetings throughout the year and also offer field trips, special events, volunteer opportunities, and other activities. Please check out their website at http://www.duvalaudubon.org/ to learn about this non-profit organization.
