MONTE VISTA, Colo. - The Bureau of Land Management’s Zapata Falls campground will be closed May 10 through 12 while Volunteers for Outdoor Colorado build a new user trail. The campground will reopen to the public on Monday, May 13.

VOC is completing the new trail near the area’s campground. When completed, the trail will be more than 3 miles in length and open to hiking and mountain biking.

“We chose this location because it is one of the best areas managed by the San Luis Valley Field Office to sustainably support downhill-mountain biking," said Clayton Davey, BLM Park Ranger. “The slope and soil types are ideal for this type of use."
