The following press releases was published by the U.S. Department of the Interior, Bureau of Land Management on Oct. 23, 2013. It is reproduced in full below.

The Bureau of Land Management (BLM) announces the new date for the close of the protest period for the Trest Rios Resource Management Plan.

The original date for the close of the 30-day protest period was Oct. 21, 2013. Due to the lapse in appropriations and the resulting Federal government shutdown, the documents were not available on the BLM website from October 1 through Oct. 16, 2013. Accordingly, the new date for the close of the protest period is Nov. 7, 2013.

Public involvement is an essential and required part of the planning process and protests submitted by Nov. 7, 2013 will be considered before the BLM makes a final decision.
