The Bureau of Land Management Eastern States (BLM ES) in partnership with Mid-Atlantic Off Road Enthusiasts (MORE) is celebrating the opening of the final two sections of the intermediate mountain bike trails at the Meadowood Special Recreation Management Area (SRMA), in Lorton, VA. The event will take place on Oct. 18, 2014 at 1:00 p.m., 10207 Old Colchester Road in Lorton, VA. Following a short dedication ceremony, the trail will be officially open to all riders.The sections will add 1.5 miles to the Boss and Stinger Trails and are specifically built for mountain bike use only featuring a new 300 foot Progressive Bike Ramp (PBR). It is one of the longest such feature on the East Coast.Construction of the final intermediate mountain bike trails began in June 2014 and completes 1.98 miles of intermediate trails. The Meadowood SRMA is also the site of the South Branch Loop Trail, a 4.7 mile hiking and biking trail that is one of only a few natural surface trails open to mountain bikes on public land in the greater Washington, D.C. area.
