Las Vegas - Pristine snow capping Joshua trees with glorious red sandstone background is a photo sought after by many. Unfortunately, the same snow can cause dangerous driving conditions and may cause the 13-Mile Scenic Drive to close intermittently.
Before you head out to capture the view, call 702-515-5350 (choose option 6) to determine if the 13-Mile Scenic Drive is open.
If you are planning to take a photo from State Route 159, please pull completely off the road, turn on your emergency flashers/hazard lights and stay out of the roadway.
The visitor center will be open 8 a.m. to 4:30 p.m., including New Year’s Day. The 13-Mile Scenic Drive will be open 6 a.m. to 5 p.m., unless closed temporarily due to poor driving conditions.
Red Rock Canyon National Conservation Area was designated as Nevada's first national conservation area. It is located 17 miles west of the Las Vegas Strip on Charleston Boulevard/State Route 159. The area includes a LEED certified visitor center, 13-Mile Scenic Drive, miles of hiking trails, picnic areas, rock climbing, horseback riding, mountain biking, road biking, picnic areas, nature observing and the Red Spring Interpretive Boardwalk.
