CRAIG, Colo - The Bureau of Land Management Little Snake Field Office plans to begin burning slash piles 21 miles north of Steamboat Springs Nov. 19.

The slash piles were generated as a hazardous fuels reduction project completed in 2013. The project reduced the threat of wildfire to the Willow Creek Subdivision and improved forest health.

If weather permits, burning will begin Nov. 19 or early the following week.

Smoke will be visible to area residents and people traveling on County Road 129. Prescribed fire smoke may affect your health. For more information see https://www.colorado.gov/pacific/cdphe/wood-smoke-and-health.
