BOISE, Idaho - The Bureau of Land Management is announcing it is preparing an environmental assessment for a travel management plan that will encompass public lands within and around the west half of the Morley Nelson Snake River Birds of Prey National Conservation Area. A public meeting will be held and comments sought to assist the BLM in identifying appropriate areas for motorized and non-motorized use.
The NCA West Travel Management Plan (TMP) will cover most BLM lands approximately described as south of Interstate 84, north of the Snake River, west of Simco Road, and east of Highway 45. This will also include several small, isolated BLM parcels south of Lake Lowell.
This plan will establish a comprehensive system of routes providing access to public lands for multiple-use activities while minimizing impacts to wildlife habitat, reducing the introduction and spread of invasive weeds, lessening conflicts among various motorized and non-motorized recreation users, and preventing damage to cultural resources resulting from the expansion of roads and trails on public lands.

The 30-day scoping comment period will begin March 1 and end March 30, 2017. Comments will be accepted through the following means:

The purpose of this public scoping period is to obtain feedback on relevant issues that may influence the BLM’s environmental analyses or range of alternatives to be analyzed. Comments are most helpful if they provide specific actions, resources, or issues to be considered and analyzed.
