Black Rock National Conservation Area Subcommittee to meet on May 12

Reno, Nev.--The Bureau of Land Management Resource Advisory Councils (RAC) Black Rock National Conservation Area subcommittee will meet on Friday, May 12. The meeting will be held at the BLM State Office, at 1340 Financial Boulevard, in Reno, Nev., from 1:30 to 4:00 p.m. Public comment periods will be held at 2:00 and 3:30 p.m.

Agenda items include:

* A review of the subcommittee foundation;

* lithium claims and proposed mineral withdrawals;

* water development;

* recreation fee program; and

* cultural resource work.

The Federal Land Policy and Management Act directs the Secretary of the Interior to involve the public in planning and discussion of issues related to management of BLM-administered public lands. The subcommittee is made up of members from each of the three RACs in Nevada. Interests represented by members of the subcommittee include grazing and ranching, academia, environmental groups, wild horses and burros, dispersed recreation and the public-at-large.
