Salem, Ore. - On July 26, the Bureau of Land Management’s (BLM) Northwest (NW) Oregon Resource Advisory Council (RAC) will meet at the Springfield Interagency Office -- 3106 Pierce Parkway in Springfield, Oregon. As stewards, the BLM manages public lands for the benefit of current and future generations, supporting conservation as we pursue our multiple-use mission. We believe partnerships and inclusion are vital to managing sustainable, working public lands.

The NW Oregon RAC was established under the Secure Rural Schools and Community Self-Determination Act. The NW Oregon RAC recommends how these funds will be spent. Funds area available for projects that improve existing infrastructure, enhance forest ecosystems or restore and improve land health and water quality.

The meeting will begin at 9:00 a.m. and conclude by 5:00 p.m. A public comment period will be offered during the meeting. The focus of the meeting will be the reallocation of approximately $60,000 in Secure Rural Schools Title II funds, an overview of subcommittee opportunities, and a presentation by the Association of Oregon Counties.

In future meetings, the RAC will provide recommendations for recreation fee changes under the 2005 Federal Lands Recreation Enhancement Act, and provide advice on various BLM issues in NW Oregon as they occur.
