CODY, Wyo. - The BLM will temporarily close the parking and picnic areas at the Bobcat-Houlihan Recreation Area the week of August 14 to facilitate the cleanup of mud and debris that buried the area during a recent flash flood and irrigation ditch culvert failure.
“The safest and most efficient way to remove the debris so that the community and visiting public can once again enjoy Bobcat-Houlihan is to close the affected area for a short time," said BLM Outdoor Recreation Planner Paul Rau.
The Bobcat-Houlihan Recreation Area is located 28 miles southwest of Cody along the South Fork Highway (State Hwy. 291). During the cleanup, the access trail leading to the South Fork will remain open. Please park along the county road leading to the recreation area.
The BLM anticipates reopening the area by August 18. For more information, please contact the BLM Cody Field Office at 307-578-5900.
