VIRGIN, Utah - In a ceremony that culminates nearly 20 years of bicycling excellence and partnerships between the BLM and the local community, the town of Virgin will take full ownership of the popular Virgin Regional BMX Track from the Bureau of Land Management. The public is invited to the ceremony, which will be held tomorrow evening in Virgin at 7 p.m., 425 N. Kolob Road. “There is no better way to serve the American family than by providing a place for BMX riders to learn, grow and compete," said BLM St. George Field Manager Brian Tritle. “BLM always strives to be a good neighbor to the communities we serve and it is my pleasure to complete this effort, giving the town the patent to this land." The 10-acre track was originally leased to Virgin in 2002, under the Recreation and Public Purposes Act. “The track coach, our kids and the racers that flock to Virgin from around the world will have a permanent BMX playground," said Virgin Mayor Bruce Densley. “This is BMX racing like nowhere else." Tritle will officially hand Densley the title at the ceremony.
