BLM opens public scoping for June 2018 oil and gas lease sale

(MILES CITY, Mont.) - In continuing efforts to promote America’s energy independence, the Bureau of Land Management (BLM) has opened a public scoping period for nominated oil and gas lease parcels located within Bighorn, Carter, Custer, Fallon, Powder River, Richland, Roosevelt, and Wibaux counties within the Miles City Field Office. The lease sale is scheduled for June 12, 2018.

This public scoping process is intended to solicit input on issues, impacts, and potential alternatives that the BLM will address in a public document prepared in accordance with the National Environmental Policy Act.

This is only the first of several opportunities for the public to comment on this oil and gas lease sale. The 15-day scoping period ends Nov. 28, 2017.

Information on the sale, including how to submit electronic comments, is available by going to http://eplanning.blm.gov and conducting an advanced text search for NEPA# DOI-BLM-MT-C020-2018-0005-EA.

Those who prefer to submit hard copy comments can mail or hand deliver them during regular business hours to the BLM Miles City Field Office, Attention: Irma Nansel, 111 Garryowen Road, Miles City, MT 59301-7000.

Those who provide comments are advised that before including their address, phone number, e-mail address, or other personal identifying information, they should be aware that the entire comment - including the personal identifying information - may be made publicly available at any time. While those commenting can ask in their comments to withhold personal identifying information from public review, the BLM cannot guarantee that they will be able to do so.
