BLM Pocatello Field Office seeks public comment on parcel nominated for oil and gas leasing

BOISE, Idaho - The BLM Pocatello Field Office recently announced the start of a 15-day public review and comment period for a preliminary environmental assessment that evaluates the availability of land nominated for competitive oil and gas leasing.

The area nominated for leasing involves one parcel totaling 836.23 acres of split estate lands (private surface with federal subsurface mineral estate) in Bonneville County, Idaho.

“We look forward to receiving helpful feedback regarding the availability of this parcel of land for competitive leasing," said Melissa Warren, Pocatello Field Manager. “This is the first step to potentially identify energy sources that are important for our country’s energy independence."

The comment period runs from March 27 until April 10. The preliminary documents are available online at https://go.usa.gov/xQC2J. Comments may be submitted via mail to the Bureau of Land Management, Pocatello Field Office, 4350 Cliffs Drive, Pocatello, Idaho 83204 or via email to Bryce Anderson at bdanderson@blm.gov.
