PARADISE VALLEY, Nev. -The Martin fire has rapidly grown due to extreme fire behavior, dense dry fuels, inaccessible terrain and gusty southwesterly winds. The fire has grown to around 92,000 acres and is roughly 2% contained. Firefighters continue to keep the fire from residences, structures and the Paiute Pipeline that runs through the area. A Great Basin Type 2 Incident Management Team has arrived and assumes command of the fire 6 a.m. on Saturday, June 7.
Several firefighting resources from the Bureau of Land Management, US Forest Service, Nevada Department of Forestry and the Paradise Valley Volunteer Fire Department have been battling the fire around the clock. Although there are no mandatory evacuations at this time, residents should be prepared to leave at a moment’s notice if conditions change. The cause of the fire is under investigation. The Martin fire was reported around 12:25 a.m. on July, 5 about 4 miles northeast of Paradise Valley, NV.
