LAKEVIEW, Ore. - As part of the 2018 National Public Lands Day celebration, the Bureau of Land Management’s Lakeview District is seeking volunteers to help improve Hart Bar Recreational Area on Saturday, Sept. 22, 2018. As stewards, the BLM manages public lands for the benefit of current and future generations, supporting conservation as we pursue our multiple-use mission.
This family-friendly event offers an opportunity for community members to learn about natural resources and some of the issues associated with managing them. To volunteer, contact Chris Bishop at (541) 947-6185 or cbishop@blm.gov.
Participants will be served lunch and presented with a commemorative National Public Lands Day shirt and a coupon good for free access to a Department of Interior-managed fee site, such as Crater Lake National Park.
Some transportation will be provided. All volunteers will meet at 7 a.m. at the Lakeview Interagency Office, 1301 South G St., Lakeview, Oregon, and caravan to the site.
Hart Bar is a gateway to the popular Warner Wetlands Area of Critical Environmental Concern. Work to be performed include trash collection, and site rehabilitation to provide an unimpeded pathway through the educational kiosk and viewing area.
National Public Lands Day is the nation’s largest, single-day volunteer effort for public lands and brings together hundreds of thousands of individual and organizational volunteers to help restore America’s public lands.
