BARSTOW, Calif. - The Bureau of Land Management (BLM) will hold a field tour and public meeting of the BLM California Desert District Advisory Council, starting with the field tour on Friday, June 28, 2019, from 8:30 a.m. to 5:30 p.m., and followed by a formal meeting session on Saturday, June 29, 2019, from 9 a.m. to 4 p.m., at the Ramada Inn, 1511 East Main Street, Barstow, California 92311.

Advisory Councils provide recommendations to the Secretary of the Interior on resource and land management issues. The BLM maintains 38 chartered advisory committees located in the West. Advisory Committees are sounding boards for BLM initiatives, regulatory proposals and policy changes. Each citizen-based council consists of 10 to 15 members from diverse interests in local communities, and play a key role in allowing the BLM to continue to be a good neighbor in the communities we serve.

Planned agenda items for the June 29 public meeting include updates from council members and the BLM California Desert District Manager on ongoing recreation and energy projects. While the meeting is tentatively scheduled to conclude at 4 p.m., it may end earlier should the council conclude its presentations and discussions. The final agenda for the June 29 business meeting will be posted on the BLM website at: https://www.blm.gov/site-page/get-involved-rac-near-you-california-california-desert-district. The public is invited to participate in the Friday field tour but members of the public must provide their own transportation and meals.

Written comments may be filed in advance of the June 29 public meeting and should be addressed to the Desert Advisory Council, c/o Bureau of Land Management, Public Affairs, 22835 Calle San Juan de Los Lagos, Moreno Valley, CA 92553. Written comments also are accepted at the time of the meeting and, if copies are provided to the recorder, will be incorporated into the minutes.
