Northwest Oregon: Temporary Closure of Footbridge at Marmot Recreation Site

Salem, Ore. - The popular footbridge at the Bureau of Land Management’s Marmot Recreation Site will be refurbished this summer. From July 1 to September 30 access beyond the lower road gate and across the bridge will be restricted. Foot traffic and water activities, such as kayaking or tubing, may also be subject to delays for passage beneath the footbridge.

Refurbishing the bridge will include maintenance of the superstructure, stability enhancement, and replacement of all wood components with galvanized steel components including the decking, and handrails.

The Day Use Area and restrooms will remain open. Foot traffic access the river downstream of the footbridge will not be affected.
