The Canyons of the Ancients National Monument, including the hiking trail to the Escalante Pueblo, will remain open year-round.
Winter weather conditions may modify hours. Please call 970-882-5600 or check the Canyons of the Ancients Facebook page for hours during winter storms.
The BLM is reducing the days and hours during the winter months to match the slower visitation period. The new schedule will also ensure that the BLM can appropriately staff the front desk at the Visitor Center and Museum. The BLM will monitor the public’s input on the new schedule and reevaluate the change in hours of operation in a year.
The Visitor Center and Museum highlights the Ancestral Puebloan culture as well as other Native American cultures in the Four Corners region. The Museum serves as a gateway to Canyons of the Ancients National Monument, which contains the highest known density of archaeological sites in the United States.
