LAKEVIEW, Ore. - The Bureau of Land Management is announcing that the Southeast Oregon Resource Advisory Council will hold two meetings in February and April 2020. The public is welcome to attend these meetings:

RACs provide advice and recommendations in order for the BLM to consider resource and land management issues within the agency. The BLM maintains 37 chartered advisory councils located in the West, which serve to inform matters such as initiatives, regulatory proposals and policy changes.

“The RAC provides input on a wide range of BLM activities throughout the State," said Lakeview District Manager Todd Forbes. “This diverse group of individuals from across Southeast Oregon share different perspectives and help inform our decision making."

Standing agenda items include management of energy and minerals, timber, rangeland and grazing, commercial and dispersed recreation, wildland fire and fuels, and wild horses and burros; review and/or recommendations regarding proposed actions by Burns, Vale, or Lakeview BLM districts; and any other business that may reasonably come before the RAC.

A half-hour comment period, during which the public may address the RAC, will begin at 8:05 a.m. Thursday, Feb. 13, and Thursday, April 23. Depending on the number of people wishing to comment and time available, the amount of time for individual oral comments may be limited.
