EL DORADO HILLS, Calif. - The Bureau of Land Management Mother Lode Field Office will be burning up to 140 acres on Tuesday, June 16 at the Cosumnes River Preserve near Galt in Sacramento County, depending on weather and air quality conditions.
The BLM, in partnership with local fire departments will use the prescribed fire to remove noxious weeds and reduce grasses that could feed wildland fires. CalTrans will post signs along the Interstate to alert drivers of the prescribed fires taking place near the roadside. Motorists should use caution.
The BLM is committed to keeping public landscapes healthy and productive. The exact timing of the prescribed fires will depend on temperature, wind and relative humidity and is being conducted in close coordination with the Sacramento Metro Air Quality District.
