REDDING, Calif. - Logging operations will be getting underway in early July on the Camp Fire salvage timber sale near the communities of Magalia and Paradise in Butte County. Logging operations are expected to continue over the next year.
John Behrend Custom Logging, of Dobbins, Calif., purchased the 1.8 million board feet of saw timber in the competitive bid sale. The company will also harvest 9,300 tons of biomass material.
The timber is on public land parcels managed by the Bureau of Land Management off Ponderosa Way and Compton Drive, and on private parcels that have BLM timber rights off Coutolenc Road and Merchants Bar Road.
The BLM advises residents and visitors to the area to be alert for heavy equipment and logging truck traffic.
