The following press releases was published by the U.S. Department of the Interior, Bureau of Land Management on Sept. 23, 2020. It is reproduced in full below.

The Meadowood Special Recreation Management Area (SRMA) located near Lorton, Virginia, will be the site of a deer hunt managed in coordination with Fairfax County and Laurel Hill Group. The hunt is scheduled to begin Sept. 12, 2020 - Feb. 20, 2021. The Meadowood SRMA, located at 10406 Gunston Road, Lorton, Virginia, is near the Mason Neck State Park and the Mason Neck Wildlife Refuge. The hunt is being managed in order to control deer overpopulation in northern Virginia. Sportsmen may hunt white-tailed deer with bows only and use tree stands to participate in this activity. A system of trails on Meadowood SRMA navigate the terrain for a variety of recreational uses on over 800 acres of public land. For more information about managing wildlife populations, visit the Virginia Department of Wildlife Resources site and Fairfax County's Deer Management Program site.
