VERNAL, UTAH - On Sunday, November 1 at 12:01 a.m., the Bureau of Land Management’s (BLM) Green River District (GRD) will rescind the fire ban put in place on July 23 on BLM managed lands located within Uintah, Duchesne, Daggett, Emery and Carbon Counties.
“Northeastern Utah has experienced a very dry spring and early summer," said Chris Deets, Green River District Fire Management Officer. “Thick unburnt fuel combined with this year’s vegetation drying faster than normal has significantly increased the risk of wildfires."
With fire restrictions being lifted across the GRD, the potential for wildfire remains. Earlier this fire season, fire managers issued prevention orders outlining fire restrictions on BLM lands located in Uintah, Duchesne, Dagett, Emery and Carbon Counties. On Sunday, Nov. 1, those fire restriction orders will be rescinded.
