Ridgecrest, Calif. - The Bureau of Land Management Ridgecrest Field Office and the Inyo National Forest have extended the public comment period for the draft Comprehensive River Management Plan for Cottonwood Creek through Friday, Aug. 6, 2021.
“The draft plan has attracted lots of public interest, so we’ve decided it’s best to allow more time for submission of substantive comments. We’re seeking new science, data and to learn what issues are important to the public," said Ridgecrest Field Manager Carl Symons.
The project includes approximately 21.5 miles of Cottonwood Creek, which runs through areas of the Inyo National Forest and Bureau of Land Management public lands. The draft plan provides a resource assessment that identifies goals for protecting and enhancing remarkable river values, management strategies and potential projects to address key issues and achieve the purpose of the Wild and Scenic Rivers Act.
Readers can access the draft plan and submit comments by visiting the ePlanning webpage. For additional information, please contact the BLM Project Manager Craig Beck at cbeck@blm.gov.
