Bureau of Land Management set to reopen Eagle Creek Rd Aug 23

The following press releases was published by the U.S. Department of the Interior, Bureau of Land Management on Aug. 20, 2021. It is reproduced in full below.

LEWISTON, Idaho - The temporary closure of the Eagle Creek Road in the Craig Mountain Wildlife Management Area will be lifted on Monday, Aug. 23. The road closure has been in place since mid-July to provide for both the safety of the public and the firefighters working on the Snake River Complex fires.

Although rugged, the 16-mile Eagle Creek Road is a popular access point through the Craig Mountain Wildlife Management Area to the banks of the Lower Salmon River.

While the fires are now 100% contained, travelers on the Eagle Creek Road may still experience some firefighter traffic due to active patrolling of the fire perimeter. In addition, the public is asked to not enter the burned area due to active hotspots and the potential for falling debris.
