Boat ramp improvements to temporarily close BLM’s Old Lucile launch site

The following press releases was published by the U.S. Department of the Interior, Bureau of Land Management on Dec. 2, 2021. It is reproduced in full below.

COTTONWOOD, Idaho - Beginning Dec. 6, the Bureau of Land Management’s Old Lucile recreation site and boat launch, located 8 miles north of Riggins, ID, will be temporarily closed as boat ramp improvements get underway. The BLM anticipates the closure to extend through Jan. 14, 2022, although the site will reopen sooner if work is completed ahead of schedule.

Over the past several years, the BLM has completed enhancements at four other popular launch sites accessing the Lower Salmon River. Work at the Old Lucile site will include extending the existing ramp further into the river to provide a safer and easier launching experience for anglers and recreationists.

While construction is underway, the BLM encourages visitors to use the newer Lucile recreation site and boat ramp, located just north of the Old Lucile site.

Cook and Sons, LLC, a local construction company from Grangeville, will be the contractor for the project.
