Today, Education and Labor Committee Republican Leader Virginia Foxx (R-NC) issued the following statement after the House passed H.R. 1456, the Peace Corps Reauthorization Act of 2022, that includes a costly Peace Corps payout:
“Not a single member of Congress has put forward any rationale as to why an arbitrary increase in Federal Employees’ Compensation Act benefits for Peace Corps Volunteers is appropriate. Not a single hearing has been held to discuss or examine this issue. Hardworking taxpayers will be breaking out their checkbooks again to fund another Washington payout. I’m willing to bet that they won’t be receiving an explanation either."
