The U.S. Department of Agriculture’s Animal and Plant Health Inspection Service (APHIS) is authorizing importation of turmeric (Curcuma longa) rhizomes from Samoa into the United States (Docket No. APHIS-2021-0034). APHIS previously made the pest risk analysis that describes potential pests associated with the commodity available for public review and comment. The agency has concluded that the application of one or more phytosanitary measures will be sufficient to mitigate the risks of introducing or disseminating plant pests or noxious weeds for imports of turmeric rhizome from Samoa. This change is effective on September 27, 2022.
