Recognizing the increase in local population and recreation-based activities has amplified the need for improved recreation management at Logandale Trails, the Bureau of Land Management Las Vegas Field Office is seeking comment on the Draft Environmental Assessment for the Resource Management Plan Amendment, draft Recreation Area Management Plan and draft Travel Management Plan for Logandale Trails. The public will be able to provide comments on these documents during a 45-day period from September 28, 2022, through November 14, 2022. A virtual public meeting will be held on October 26, 2022, from 6 to 8p.m.
“We hope to improve access to recreation and visitor experience for Logandale Trails with this planning effort,” said Shonna Dooman, Las Vegas Field Office Manager. “We look forward to receiving public comment on the draft environmental assessment and associated planning documents.”
BLM is proposing to amend the 1998 Las Vegas Resource Management Plan to designate Logandale Trails as a Special Recreation Management Area as well as develop a Recreation Area Management Plan and Travel Management Plan. The plans will provide site-specific management that will enhance recreation opportunities within Logandale Trails and 0reduce conflicts between recreation users, other resource uses, biological and cultural resources. More information about these plans can be found at https://www.virtualpublicmeeting.com/logandale-trails-ea.
Logandale Trails is primarily used for recreation and is currently designated as an Extensive Recreation Management Area. The Logandale Trails planning area is approximately 15,300 acres of BLM managed public lands in Southern Nevada. The BLM has revised the previous acreage from 15,019 acres to 15,300 acres due to an error in calculations found in our GIS data while the draft EA and planning documents were being drafted.
Adjacent lands administered by the U.S. Bureau of Reclamation and Nevada State Parks, as well as private lands, will not be included in the planning efforts.
The virtual public meeting will include a brief presentation on the Logandale Trails proposed plans followed by a question-and-answer portion and finally a comment period. To register for the October 26, 2022 public meeting, please visit https://empsi.zoom.us/webinar/register/WN_H84o7ckERmGLO8wHXbSpiA to register for the meeting). The meeting will be recorded and posted on BLM Nevada’s YouTube channel.
The following information would be the most useful type of comments:
• Is there additional information, data or analysis which should be considered?
• Is information, data or analysis incorrect or not thoroughly considered?
Comments will be accepted until November 14, 2022, and will be incorporated into the Final Environmental Assessment, Recreation Area Management Plan and Travel Management Plan.
