21st Annual Sand Sculpture Contest at Drakes Beach - Sunday, September 1, 2002

Point Reyes National Seashore invites you to join its 21st Annual Sand Sculpture Contest. To foster community stewardship and encourage the public’s imagination, we welcome all ages to attend this free event located at Drakes Beach. Come spend the Sunday of Labor Day weekend in the sand and sun, a 30 minute drive from Bear Valley Visitor Center in Olema. The event is sponsored by the Point Reyes National Seashore Association and prizes will be awarded in the form of gift certificates to use at the Ken Patrick Visitor Center. Categories include: Children (14 and under), Families, Adult Individuals, and Adult Groups, with three prizes awarded to each category. This event is family-based, but please remember that dogs are not allowed at this designated swim beach (no lifeguard on duty). Pets are allowed at many of the other beaches located in the park, please call any visitor center for more information regarding this event or areas to walk your dog.

3:30 p.m. Prizes awarded
