Advance Notice for Planning Purposes
Who: National Park Service Submerged Resource Center and Lake Mead National Recreation Area Personnel
What: Media Day on Lake Mead to view submerged cultural resource B-29 Superfortress Bomber at the bottom of the lake. Each outlet will be allowed to shoot their own video and get their own one-on-one interviews. B-roll of the submerged B-29 taken by NPS Submerged Resource Center divers/archaeologists also will be available.
Where: Lake Mead - Reporters, Photographers, and Videographers will meet at Overton Beach Marina and be taken by boat to a location above the B-29 Superfortress Bomber.
When: Tuesday, Feb. 28, 2006. Media will be taken out in shifts during the day. A final schedule will be prepared once email confirmations of interest are received. It takes about 1 ½ -2 hours to get to Overton Beach Marina from Las Vegas. It will take an additional 20-30 minutes to get to the site by boat. Your crew will be able to stay aboard the vessel for at least 30 minutes to get images and interviews before returning by boat to the Overton Beach Marina.
Why: Public and media interest on the B-29 Superfortress Bomber has remained high. This media day will allow park personnel to update the public on the condition of the resource and plans to allow qualified divers to dive the site later this year.
Please respond to this email if you would like to send a crew that day. I will develop a schedule once I receive the RSVPs. Only six additional people can board our vessel at one time, so a schedule is absolutely necessary. Emails should be sent to e-mail us.
