Narrows Closure

The following press release was published by the U.S. Department of the Interior, National Park Service on Jan. 30, 2007. It is reproduced in full below.

Pursuant to the authority vested in me as Superintendent, Lake Mead National Recreation Area, National Park Service, I hereby declare that portion of Lake Mead commonly referred to as “The Narrows" from shoreline to shoreline beginning at the eastern longitude of 114° 39’ 1" and latitude 36° 7’ 49.5" to western longitude of 114° 32’ 54.2" and latitude 36° 9’ 3.7", to be closed to all boat traffic, fishing, and other public use during an emergency marina relocation operation.

This emergency closure will be in effect from 12 noon to 6 p.m. This closure may begin earlier or be extended past 6 p.m. if the relocation operations warrant.

The area to be closed in the interest of public safety is indicated on the drawing show below, which is hereby made a part of this order. Times during which this closure will be in effect are:

Friday, Feb. 2, 2007, 12 noon to 6 p.m.
