The following press release was published by the U.S. Department of the Interior, National Park Service on April 16, 2007. It is reproduced in full below.

Petrified Forest, AZ - Park Superintendent Lee Baiza announced that visitation for March increased by 31% from last year with 52,149 visits compared to last year’s 39,835. The year to date total is 92,085 which is up by 3%.

Weather on the Colorado Plateau can be very unpredictable especially in the spring. This March saw a warming trend with temperatures in the 70s throughout the region and the nicer weather helped to increase visitation.
