Harkers Island, N.C. -- Cape Lookout National Seashore Superintendent Russel J. Wilson announced today the start up of vehicle ferry and cabin rental operations for the summer, and that issues relating to start-up of the Davis to South Core Banks vehicle ferry and cabin rental services at Great Island on South Core Banks have been resolved.
On South Core Banks:
A new interim ferry operator, the Davis Shore Ferry Service, will begin taking reservations beginning on March 17, 2008, for vehicle and passenger transportation operating from the former Alger Willis ferry facility in Davis, NC. Please call 252-729-3474 for ferry transportation reservations, 7 days per week from 7:00 AM to 6:00 PM. Ferry reservation requests can also be faxed to 252-729-8411.
The National Park Service (NPS) will be operating the cabin rentals on South Core Banks on an interim basis until a long-term ferry and cabin rental contract can be completed. Please call 252-241-6783 for cabin rental reservations starting on March 19, 2008, Monday through Friday from 9:00 AM to 3:00 PM. Cabins will be available starting March 26, 2008. After March 26, 2008, reservation hours will be 7 days per week from 8:30 AM to 4:30 PM.
On North Core Banks:
The Morris Marina and Kabin Kamps Company, operating out of Atlantic, NC, will begin vehicle and passenger ferry services on March 20, 2008. Cabin rental services at Long Point on North Core Banks also will begin on March 20. Please call 252-225-4261 or 877-956-6568 for ferry and cabin rental reservations 7 days per week from 6:30 AM to 5:00 PM.
