Superintendent Cherry Payne announced today that Glacier Bay National Park and Preserve has contracted to apply a chip seal to the main park road and parking areas. The project will start at the park boundary and end at the public use dock. Bicknell Inc. of Juneau is the primary contractor for this project. A chip seal is applied to protect, preserve and extend pavement life, and to improve vehicle slip resistance. Traffic delays will occur during the project, but should be no longer than ten minutes. Closure of the Bartlett Cove vessel launch ramp may be required during aggregate off loading. The project is expected to occur between Friday August 8th and Friday August 29th., but the actual dates of work may vary depending on material delivery dates and weather conditions.
