Annual Hunting Season Closure in Acadia National Park

Annual Hunting Season Closure in Acadia National Park

The following press release was published by the U.S. Department of the Interior, National Park Service on Oct. 31, 2008. It is reproduced in full below.

Between November 1 and Nov. 30, which is the Maine deer hunting season for rifles, the one-way section of Park Loop Road from Paradise Hill Road to Otter Cliff Road (traveling clockwise) will be closed between dark and 7 a.m. During these times the park will also close Great Head Road, between the Schooner Head Overlook intersection and the Great Head parking lot. This closure is implemented each year to protect the deer in Acadia by reducing the chances for poaching in these areas.

For more information, call park headquarters at 207-288-3338, ext. 0.
