Musica Antiqua will honor the 350th Anniversary of the founding of Baltimore County in an hour long performance in the Hampton Orangery. This concert will highlight the Ridgely family and Hampton Estate community contributions to the history and development of Baltimore County through music.
“The concert at Hampton will be unique, for it will be from the perspective of a specific family, its activities, influence, dependents, workers, slaves, and social circles" says Anita Avery, Director of Musica Antiqua.
Musica Antiqua is also celebrating its 20th anniversary with Hampton NHS. Beginning in 1989, the music ensemble has performed 17 concerts at Hampton, 8 performances at Yuletide, and a series of lectures. Grants from the Baltimore County Commission on Arts and Sciences and the Maryland State Arts Council have helped to make many musical memories at Hampton possible.
