BODY OF MAN DROWNED ON MEMORIAL DAY RECOVERED FROM LAKE MOHAVE
BULLHEAD CITY, Ariz. - Park rangers recovered the body of John Silva, 42, of El Monte, Calif. who drowned in Lake Mohave on Memorial Day. The body was located today at 3:38 p.m. in 110 feet of water using an underwater remotely operated vehicle (ROV) brought in from Glen Canyon National Recreation Area.
Silva went missing Monday afternoon after he jumped into the lake without a life jacket to cool off. Witnesses state that he began to struggle to stay afloat within a minute of going into the water.
Divers from Bullhead City Fire Department searched the area on Monday and Tuesday with no results. Dive operations were suspended on Tuesday.
A team from Glen Canyon National Recreation Area was brought in on Thursday to continue the search using an ROV equipped with a camera and sonar.
The body has been turned over to the Clark County Coroner’s Office.
