Botanical Treasures of the Everglades - Coe Visitor Center Exhibit

The following press release was published by the U.S. Department of the Interior, National Park Service on Oct. 30, 2009. It is reproduced in full below.

Rare and endangered orchids, lovely but threatened bromeliads and other exotic plants from the subtropical environment of the Everglades are the subjects of an art exhibit in the Everglades National Park entitled "Botanical Treasures of the Everglades" by Kathleen Konicek-Moran.

Kathleen has used the past eight winters as a volunteer in the Park to find some of the Park’s most rare and fascinating plants. As a botanical illustrator, she presents her subjects in ways that educate the viewer, yet are artistically pleasing. She works in pencil, pen and ink and watercolor. The park videographer Jennifer Brown recently completed a video of this artist as she works in the Everglades. This video can be viewed on the park website multimedia pages under Glades Glimpse Podcasts.
