Grand Canyon, AZ. - On Veteran’s Day, Wednesday, Nov. 11, 2009, all military veterans and current members of the U.S. Armed Forces and their families will be admitted to Grand Canyon National Park free of charge.

Veterans Day is dedicated to those who have protected this nation and its people, both in years past and today. In appreciation of their service and sacrifice, military personnel, both active and retired, and their families who visit Grand Canyon National Park on Veterans Day will have their entrance fees waived for the day. Free entry for veterans and active military personnel will be available at both the North and South Rims of the park. (It is expected that limited visitor services will still be available on the North Rim on November 11.)

“User fees" such as backcountry permit fees, camping fees and fees for other activities offered in the park will not be waived, nor will commercial tour entrance fees. Regular entrance fees will be collected for any additional days spent in the park beyond Veteran’s Day.

In 2006, the National Park Service (NPS) began commemorating Veteran’s Day at all NPS sites with a fee-free day forthe brave members of the United States Armed Forces who have answered the call to serve our Nation.
