Come celebrate Earth Day at the Rocky Mountain National Park Greenhouse Thursday, April 22, from 11 a.m. to 2 p.m. This is the best time of year to tour the greenhouse since it is full of native plants being grown for restoration projects throughout the park. Park experts will on hand to give greenhouse tours and answer questions about keeping the park "green." Parking is available at the Beaver Meadows Visitor Center where staff will direct you to the nearby greenhouse.
The park's vegetation program works to restore disturbed areas in the park with native vegetation while controlling invasive exotic plant species. Around 28,000 trees, shrubs, forbs, grasses, and wetland species are currently growing in the greenhouse. All will be planted later this year to support projects throughout the park including campground restoration from the mountain pine bark beetle infestation, Trail Ridge Road reconstruction, and Grand Lake Entrance Station replacement.
