Free Tours Offered June 5 and 6 at Wind Cave National Park

WIND CAVE NATIONAL PARK, S.D. - All tours of Wind Cave will be free the weekend of June 5 and 6 as part of the celebration of National Trails Day. Tours of the Natural Entrance will be offered on the hour beginning at 9 a.m. through 5 p.m. This 75-minute tour has 300 stairs, most of which are down, and walks a half a mile. Tours of the Garden of Eden will be offered in the afternoon at 12:30, 1:30, 2:30, and 3:30. These tours last one hour and traverse a quarter mile of cave with 150 stairs.

The cave temperature is 53 ºF. A light coat or sweater and sturdy walking shoes are recommended. All tours begin at the visitor center and cave tour tickets will be issued on a first come, first served basis. These tours can be extremely popular resulting in long wait times and possible “sold out" tours.
