Park Establishes Public Document Reading Room, an Online Portal to Share Park Records

The following press release was published by the U.S. Department of the Interior, National Park Service on Dec. 10, 2010. It is reproduced in full below.

Point Reyes National Seashore is embarking on an innovative effort to make park documents and data available to the public as part of our continued efforts to improve public understanding of research and management activities. We have created an online Point Reyes Public Document Reading Room which will provide public access to:

* Freedom of Information Act (FOIA) responses

* Frequently requested park documents

* Videos and approximately 300,000 photographs from wildlife monitoring projects

The reading room will be updated frequently and, in the future, will house park documents and all responses to FOIA requests.

Superintendent Cicely Muldoon stated, "The online reading room is a positive step forward in making park records and information available and accessible to all. This is a great new tool for improving public access to and understanding of park research and management activities."
