Lake use permit stickers for boat launching on the Lake of the Arbuckles in Chickasaw National Recreation Area will be available for purchase beginning Jan. 2, 2011. The 2011 annual permit can be purchased for $30.00 ($15.00 with Senior or Access Pass) from the automated fee machines at Guy Sandy, The Point, and Buckhorn launch ramps (cash/credit/debit) and in the lobby of the Sulphur Chamber of Commerce/Visitor Information Station (credit/debit only), 717 W. Broadway.
The fee machines dispense two receipts for each transaction. These receipts, which are heat and light sensitive, must be redeemed for a red, 2011 annual permit sticker within one week of purchase at the following locations: Travertine Nature Center, 7 days a week, 9:00 a.m. - 4:30 p.m.; Park Headquarters (1008 W. 2nd Street), Monday-Friday, 8:00 a.m.-4:30 p.m.; and the Visitor Information Station and the Buckhorn Ranger Station when personnel are available. Boat owners must also bring their current boat registration to obtain the annual sticker. The permit stickers are to be placed on both sides of the watercraft and trailer. The 2011 permits are valid until Dec. 31, 2011.
If eligible, visitors must have their Senior Pass (formerly Golden Age Passport) or Access Pass (formerly Golden Access Passport) card in hand to input the card number for permit purchase. The Travertine Nature Center, Visitor Information Station, and Park Headquarters all distribute the Senior Pass and Access Pass. The Senior Pass can be purchased (U.S. Citizen and 62 years of age) for $10. There is no charge for the Access Pass (U.S. Citizen, permanently disabled). For more information about federal passes and lake permits, call the Travertine Nature Center at 580 622-7234.
