Man Who Died at North Rim’s Cape Royal Trailhead Identified

Grand Canyon, Ariz. - A man whose body was found next to his car at the Cape Royal Trailhead on the North Rim of Grand Canyon National Park has been identified as Donald Haney of Cherokee Village, Arkansas.

Mr. Haney's body was found on the morning of October 3 after the Grand Canyon Regional Communications received a visitor report of a possible fatality at the Cape Royal Trailhead.

The National Park Service, with the assistance of the Coconino County Medical Examiner's Officer, conducted an investigation into the incident; and it was determined that 70-year old Haney died of natural causes.
